DNS cache or resolution, WinINET proxy, WinHTTP proxy, PAC configuration, user environment proxy variables, VPN/filter drivers, hosts blocks, firewall policy, TLS/certificate validation, time drift, endpoint outage, metered network, IPv6/DS-Lite behavior, or third-party security software may contribute.
Safe manual checks
- Check Xbox service status and test another network if available.
- Confirm Windows date and time are accurate.
- Record intentional VPN, PAC, proxy, and organization settings before changing them.
- Test Microsoft Store and Xbox sign-in separately.
- Restart the router only when other devices also show connectivity trouble.

What cannot be repaired automatically
The tool cannot reconfigure a router, remove organization policy, repair ISP routing, bypass security controls, restore a remote service, decide every VPN configuration is unwanted, or fix expired certificates owned by a remote service.
Risks and undo support
Proxy repair can disrupt corporate, school, security, or VPN access. Each layer should be reported separately. Captured settings may support undo, but externally managed policy can restore them or block changes.
